Children come and go at De Waaier. We want them to look back positively on their time in our language class. That’s why we’ve come up with a lovely ritual. All classmates tell the child who is leaving what they appreciate about them and what they will miss. Together, they make a ‘waaier’ (fan) with personal memories. Starting at our school
\n<\/strong>When we receive a registration, we schedule a welcome meeting within a few days. Children start at our school within a week. <\/p>\n

Does your child need something extra? Then we would love to talk to you about what is needed to make this happen. If necessary, we’ll plan an extra meeting with our support team, consisting of our inclusive education consultant from the partnership and the youth family coach. Sometimes it happens that we cannot provide the extra support a child needs. In that case, we will of course work with you to find a suitable place for your child. <\/p>\n

At De Waaier<\/span> there is <\/span>time and space <\/span>for <\/span>fun and <\/span> relaxation. Together with parents, we organize fun school-wide activities. We celebrate <\/span>Dutch <\/span>holidays such as <\/span>Sinterklaas, Easter, and Christmas<\/span> and pay attention to celebrations from <\/span> other cultures. In addition, we organize activities such as school trips, a sports day, and the school photographer. <\/span><\/span>All activities are given a fun, unique, and above all, appropriate interpretation together. De Waaier is <\/span>a<\/span> Healthy School. <\/span><\/span>We believe healthy eating is important and we want to encourage parents and children to bring a healthy snack. You can think of fruit and water, and for lunch, bread and a drink. Soft drinks, cookies, candy, or chips are not allowed. <\/span><\/span>We also want to work with the children to reduce our large mountain of waste. We prefer not to see cartons, pouches, and other packaging materials at school. Children starting at our school receive a water bottle that can be used daily. <\/p>\n

Our school holds the ‘vignet’ (label) for physical activity, sports, and nutrition.<\/p>\n

Physical Activity and Sports Label
\n<\/strong>This theme is about encouraging an active lifestyle among students. On one hand, it involves planned physical education where students learn to move well. Extra attention for inactive or motor-impaired students is essential here. On the other hand, a sporty school pays attention to a structural offering of more movement where goals like cooperation, performance, togetherness, and personal development (such as physical development) can also be central. Offering a wide and varied range of pre-, mid-, and after-school sports and movement activities in collaboration with external providers is also part of sports and movement in and around the school. <\/p>\n

Nutrition Label
\n<\/strong>This theme is about healthy eating and drinking and a healthy mouth. This includes lessons on healthy nutrition and encouraging healthy eating behavior during morning breaks, lunch, and for treats, as well as promoting good dental care. The children have gym twice a week at school in their own gym gear: a t-shirt, shorts, and gym shoes. Gym lessons are on varying days, so gym gear stays at school.
