At De Waaier, we are convinced that you can be sharp and critical of (educational) development in an inspiring way. Instead of using a measuring system, we work with a ‘knowing’ system. This fits within our vision: our children know that they are valuable. Within the knowing system, the emphasis is on good conversation and ‘knowing’, rather than (just) on grades and performance. In our knowing system, we are and remain in regular conversation with each other. <\/p>\n\n

Having conversations: knowing how we are of value <\/strong>We are constantly in conversation with each other. For example, we create an annual plan together, we draw up a trimester report every three months in which we keep track of what is happening in all areas within the school, we hold team, triangle, and specialist meetings, we organize study days, and after the method tests (development tests), we have an analysis day with the entire team to see how our children are developing and what we can adjust in our teaching to better align with what our children need. In other words: we discuss developments and ambitions at the school level and give meaning to the data we have collected together. By constantly staying in dialogue with each other, we truly connect. In addition, we engage in conversation with partners at all levels, and because we feel jointly responsible for education at all levels, we are openly accountable for it. At fixed and flexible moments, we collect information about our school development and the development of our children. We interpret and value that data. Then we draw conclusions about where we stand and where we want to go, all in an open dialogue. From there, we move forward, determine or revise our direction, and take action. <\/p>\n\n

How do we know?<\/strong>We constantly ask ourselves: why do we do what we do? And are we doing it well? So we are systematically working to evaluate our educational system. It is important here that the team feels jointly responsible for the results. And that everyone contributes to the steps we take to improve the educational system, as it should be in a talent-driven, professional team. <\/p>\n\n

The knowing system at a glance<\/em>– Our knowing system is dynamic and moves along with developments in the educational field.– Our knowing system fits into an open culture where making mistakes is allowed and where we learn from our mistakes.– Our knowing system has a ‘hard side’, where we test practice against laws and regulations, monitor financial continuity, and follow the collective labor agreement.
